MythBuster!

It's official!! Today I taught my students the difference between professional and non-professional shampoos and basically "good and bad" shampoos. It's always a good lesson. For years now I have heard and taught how bad SUAVE shampoo is.. probably the most "toxic" shampoo. It was rated a 1.2 out of 10 in the "Natural Skin Care Product review". They also said "Suave is quite literally a chemical soup". I've always known how bad it is but I had a c0-instructor once tell me that "suave is so bad for you, you could PERM hair with it".. So as I taught my students today we decided to give it a try, and..........IT WORKED!!!! I was actually really happy, not to mention it made my class a whole lot cooler. Now i'm not sure how long it will last, maybe a temporary 2 weeker..but still.

.97 cents at Walmart.

The results!!.. I only permed a few pieces just in case it didn't work.
This curl is after I washed and towel dried, you could even pull on the hair and it would scrunch back up.. my students were amazed, as was I. FYI... another shampoo that is really bad for you is Pantene Pro-V... I know it smells awesome but it is coating your hair with wax (and other chemicals, hence the extreme softness) and when you put heat to that wax.. you can imagine. Also I had a client once who had used this for years and I could actually scrape wax off her hair stand with the top of my shears.

As of late.. this is the stuff BYU has Matt reading.. and who said BYU was easy??

Idaho

Matt and I have been married 5 months!! It is crazy how time flies! I'm lucky I married my best friend, because we can have so much fun toghether. It comes in handy on nights when we have nothing to do but entertain ourselves, we do it well. Anyways Last weekend we went to Idaho to visit my sister Jenn and her family. We had a lot of fun! Some of the highlights were.. Matt and Kirk went golfing sat. Jenn and I went shopping with the kids, Fondue, crafts, and tucanoes. Thanks again guys!

One of the entrances to their house, it's so pretty.

In their subdivision.

A few of the hair barretts Jenn and I made.

The damage..

Unfortunately this is what Matt was doing a lot of the time...homework.

There is a first for everything!

Happy Holidays! Matt and I returned home from our two week vacation with his family in California! We had such a blast and definitely couldn't complain about the weather in the 70's! We stayed at Matt's parents house. Thanks again Roger and Cheryl for everything!! We had soo much fun! This is kinda a long post of pics... enjoy!

Mine and Matt's 1st married Christmas!
My 1st Christmas away from home. Which was hard, but the Heyman's treated us so well and
we had a lot of fun.

I helped Cheryl decorate the Christmas tree! The theme was the beach which I had never
seen before and it turned out very pretty!

1st time going to the Newport temple!
On our 4 month anniversary we went to the Newport Temple with Matt's parents and it was beautiful inside and out! After we went to CPK.. can't go wrong there!

A day later we went to Balboa Island where Matt's sister lives. It is so pretty down there.
This bird really liked hanging around Matt, his wing was hurt and I felt bad.

The whole family met us at Balboa island and we went out to eat at Ruby's on the pier .This is a view from the ferry we took to get to and from the island.

After that we walked around the island and looked at all the beautiful lights!

My 1st Christmas with out snow!
Christmas Day we woke up and opened presents, then we headed to Mike and Shauna's (aunt and unlce) house for food, more presents and fun! It was beautiful weather that day so we played out side. Matt is throwing the football.

1st time at Mike and Shauna's
The kids playing badminton.

We all played softball.. and Mr. Indredible showed up. (Jaden)

Their dog Snickers.. he was soo cute!

The following week I went with Matt's sisters (lisa and Shauna)
and his mom to Orange, Orange county. We went to this cute little cupcake shop. They took an original Tiffany's ring box and matched the blue color to their walls.

Tasted just like a snickerdoodle

Cheryl sittin on the cute bench.

1st time going to Orange.

we went with everyone to the tide pools at Dana Point and saw a ton of Sea Stars.

It was such a nice day!

1st time at the Rose Parade!
Every year as tradition Matt's whole family attends the Rose Parade! They reserve this big median and the night before they take shifts staying out to make sure no one steals it. This year Matt and his cousin's shift was from 2 am to 7 am. We celebrated New years by going out to eat and then drove up to LA. I stayed at his Aunt's (thanks again Mike and Shauna) and Matt slept outside. Roger woke him up at 6:30 when he got to the route and Matt went and slept in our car until the parade started..what a trooper-this gave us front row seats at the parade and it was awesome!!!

Audrey and Carter. Some one in the family brings this "you're 1/2 way there" sign every year. It's a 5 1/2 mile route and we are at mile 4 1/2 so they only have 1 mile to go but it's funny to see the looks on their faces!.. some get really mad because they are so tired..but several new it was a joke because they've been in the parade so many times. One girl from another state saw and was like "I Hope!"..haha

Matt look sooo tired here.. he got hardly any sleep

this pic is for LUKE! I'm glad i finally found the dragon he was talking about!
For those of you who don't know.. the floats are strictly made out of organic living things.. they can't even be in the parade until they have been examined. So everything you see consists of flowers or seeds or fruit , leaves etc. everything edible you could think of. It was really cool!

this one had a cool water feature I liked.

The day before we left to come home, we went to the beach again. It was so nice out.

Matt soakin up the sun.. and loving the cold wet sand!

The water was a little chilly bit it sure didn't deter the surfers and swimmers!
This was on Jan. 2nd.

After the beach we met up with everyone for some biking on beach cruisers!

Bradli and Heather

Roger surprised Cheryl with a beach cruiser for christmas..it was brown and pink, so cute!

The Browns and Saunders rode Surrys

That was our fun vacation in a nutshell. Now back to reality!

My family bought Matt and I a tree for our apartment and some ornaments! They came down and visited us and surprised us with it! It's Perfect for our little apartment and considering we won't be at our apartment for most Christmases we'll be visiting family it works perfect! Thanks again guys we love it!.. Here we are putting the ornaments on.. Matt was a little winded so he was taking a break :).. I'm so excited for Christmas! I love this time of the year! We'll be spending it with Matt's family in California, It will be my 1st Christmas without snow, and right now i'm looking forward to it, we've been getting a lot of snow lately and it's freezing! We're excited to have a 2 week vacation and be with family and warmth!

I'm learning how to make headband ones next so we'll see how that goes! We're going to Idaho for thanksgiving and me and my sister are going to do lots of crafts. I'm excited.

Dinner

So I wasn't sure what to make for dinner a few nights ago, My sister Jenn made me the best recipe book EVER, It's really big and has yummy pictures next to each recipe, she spent a lot of time on it and i would like to publically thank her because it meant so much to me/us, being newly married with a husband who has a big appitite. I loved it so much and i've made almost every recipe in it! so thanks jenn it's seriously the best! I also found this website as I was looking for something new on the internet it's www.RecipeMatcher.com, I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with it but you type in all of the ingredients in your house and it comes up with recipes for you and also tells you what more you need if you don't have it. It was awesome and gave us some yummy ideas. If you ever don't know what to make and have a bunch of random ingredients that you think won't work for anything this is perfect so check it out and let me know what you think.
